School of Computing and Informatics

alumnixWelcome to the School of Computing and  Informatics

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) was established in 2003 as Western University College of Science and Technology as a constituent college of Moi University. Later, it was awarded chatter as a university in 2007 and renamed Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. It is located in Kakamega county in Western Kenya, an area with untapped potential (Human capital and underutilization of ICT Infrastructure).

The University has a mandate of stimulating capacity building in Science, Technology and Innovation. It is within these functions that we propose the establishment of the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) that has been operating as the department Computer Science within the Faculty of Science.
The school will spearhead focused teaching, research, training, development and community service in the fields of Information and Communication Technology. The establishment of the school is in line with Vision 2030 and the university’s 2015/16-2019/20 Strategic Plan with a view of the potential of increasing ICT’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through enhanced innovative products, Research, Innovation and Consultancy, increased productivity and utilization of available technologies sustainably.
